One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years. — Tom Wolfe
With the recent addition of Malia Stevens, rejoining us after more than ten years, we are proud to announce that Kennedy Events is now bi-coastal —with offices in San Francisco and New York City!
With many of our clients producing events in both cities, Malia expands our teams’ ability to research, produce, and manage seamless events in the New York region.
Malia has an impressive background in hospitality and food. This fall she contributed her expertise to a fundraiser we produced for the Food and Environment Reporting Network (FERN), where she coordinated efforts among five chefs, a local distiller, poultry farm, brewer and caterer to create a unique and stellar menu and experience for 200+ guests in Brooklyn.
Malia is not alone with her NY ties, as Maggie grew up in the Bronx, where her parents still reside, and Paige’s family is in nearby Connecticut.
To offer you a glimpse of OUR New York, here are three of our favorites in NYC:
Ginny’s Supper Club — Paige loves the speakeasy-inspired jazz club decor of this Harlem eatery, downstairs from Chef Marcus Samuelson’s much-celebrated Red Rooster. Be sure to walk around the surrounding blocks and take in the entire revitalized neighborhood along 125th and Lenox Aves.
Malia gives a local’s shoutout to Otto (Mario Batali’s pizza joint) on 8th Street and 5th Ave in the Village. She recommends you follow your meal with a stroll through Washington Square Park.
The High Line is a repurposed elevated railroad trestle in the Meat Packing District. Maggie finds this the perfect place to let her kids run free after hitting the busy streets below, while she sits down to enjoy the views of the Hudson River. Be sure to hit nearby Bubbys for brunch and an ice cream sundae.
