How to improve on paradise? Idyllic Miramar Farms in coastal Half Moon Bay was the backdrop for this donor awareness event. Foundation for Youth Investments wanted to make it more meaningful — and delicious!
Create a meaningful and uncommon outdoor experience for 125 guests of all ages. Make the connection between a beautiful day on the farm and the importance of getting all California youth outdoors.
Foundation for Youth Investment (FYI) needed to build its donor base and help their donors understand their giving, grantees, and the value of getting youth outdoors today for a healthier California tomorrow.
Four regional outdoor programs demonstrated tent pitching, ‘smores making, explained the farm’s bounty, and served youth-harvested and baked pies.
A bounty of oohs and aahs from donors and their families.
FYI wanted to improve its Harvest Celebration in its second year and make stronger connections for guests about how FYI improves lives and communities.
They had all the right ingredients from their first event – an idyllic private farm in coastal Half Moon Bay, CA, and relationships with the right types of donors.
Kennedy Events added activity stations to the mix, hosted by outdoor organizations funded by FYI, and took the logistical load off FYI’s tiny staff.
During a fun, relaxing day filled with farm tours, hay rides, and scavenger hunts Harvest Celebration guests came to understand FYI’s purpose in connecting youth to the outdoors to improve health and conservation.
Families left Miramar Farms with a pumpkin and a parting gift, saying to themselves “that was so much fun – we’ve got to get involved with FYI,” and understanding that their time outdoors that day was special. Donor follow up and cultivation will yield a base of support for FYI.
