Fusion: Real Future Fair

A Multi-City Tour (SF, NYC, LA) for an Unconventional Event

The Ask: This year-long, multi-city tour was one of our most fun, culturally progressive events. Fusion (which sadly is no longer) was a new media company offering a unique mix of smart and irreverent original reporting, lifestyle, and comedic content. Their Real Future event needed to be an equally uncommon gathering—offering both a conference element for professionals in the media sphere and a cultural moment for the public at large.

The Answer: The answer for this group was a live journalism experience in NY and LA and a festival that included a conference, live podcast recording, live music performances, a robot cocktail party, and drone wars. We built the stage to feel more like a concert than a keynote, to keep the vibe as unconventional as possible.

Stage management and technical direction

One of our favorite venues in San Francisco is the Palace of Fine Arts. With wide-open spaces and incredible statues that bookend the stage area, this space makes a statement. We used the existing architecture of giant angel statues as part of the stage design and customized the screens to frame them and create a cohesive presentation.

Interaction is key to a successful event. We love having attendees truly immerse themselves in a variety of experiences when they come to our events. We used virtual reality headsets as a way to achieve a look into the future.

Every event should have a wow factor and we help our clients discover how to fold these experiences into their program. Why not host a robot cocktail party? Let’s make it happen!
