INTERACTIVE AND IMMERSIVE EVENING
The Ask: The Food and Environmental Reporting Network (FERN) is a group of food sustainability and environmental activists who fund journalism to help stories about food sustainability get into top publications like the New York Times or The Economist. They came to Kennedy Events looking to create an immersive and interactive evening that illuminated the stories they wanted to tell and created an environment that felt organic, all while raising awareness of their cause.
The Answer: We call it “theatrical journalism”—a program that allows interactive storytelling to begin over a cocktail hour and naturally evolve into a chef’s food sustainability lecture over a progressive-style dinner—an evening that continues to unfold throughout the space. The experience was part dining, part mingling, part storytelling, part musical entertainment, and part educational.

Some events merit more out of the box entertainment. We love to bring in unique musical treats like this bluegrass band who delighted the crowd between speakers.

We can’t stress enough how important lighting design is; it creates the mood of the space. We love working with vendors who are experts in illumination and bring us creative solutions. If your lighting is perfect, you can easily scale back on other big-ticket design items.

If you serve great food at your event, that alone can be an incentive for your attendees to return again and again. We take great care when collaborating with our caterers to ensure our guests feel nourished and inspired.
